It’s that time of year, Christmas done and dusted, visiting families returned from whence they came, beds stripped, washed and remade, cats enjoying last remnants of the turkey, me praying for a swift return to those lighter evenings, and our thoughts turn towards what was and what will be.

You might have even spotted (you surely would have heard!) some strange goings on in Radipole gardens (and no they’re not electioneering! There have also been reports of strange glows emanating from St Aldhelm’s church, but panic not.

Watching bats sweeping to and fro in these gardens are one of my treasured childhood memories, though what they were probably feeding on, not such good memories! Playing tennis in the evenings usually meant you spent more time swiping away those mozzies who seemed determined to devour you.
