Bringing Wildlife and Nature into the Park

One of our aims is to make concerted efforts to attract more wildlife and bring more nature into Radipole park and gardens.

There are benefits for both them and us.

If we succeed (fingers and toes firmly crossed)  with stage II of our Heritage Lottery Bid, we have plans to create a bog garden area and a sensory garden.

As part of that scheme, this coming Spring, on Saturday 14th April, one of our events will be  a Wildlife and Nature Day in the gardens.

This is will be a fun day for everyone, there will be something to enjoy for the whole family, of all ages and all abilities.

The search is now on for many of those local groups whose aims it is to promote these ideals.

They’ll be coming along to provide us with the ideas and know how, ways that we can make changes, big or small, to help wildlife and nature thrive and prosper.

From suggestions on how to provide the perfect habitats for small mammals to attracting more birds and providing them with shelter and nesting sites.

Of course, not forgetting the little guys, the creepies and the crawlies, things that flutter and fly…all a vital part and parcel of nature’s chain.

There are already a few experts signed up to join us for the day and a lot more in the pipeline…so keep an eye open for further details.

We now have Julie Hammon from Stepping into Nature who will be there to explain what they do and how they work on encouraging older people, especially those with dementia and their carers into the outdoors by using organised activities.

We also hope to have a wildlife photographer attending who can give people tips on how best to capture that special nature shot.

P.S. Always have your camera at the ready when walking through the gardens…you never know what you may see. One lady witnessed a deer in the park last year.

Don’t forget, we’d love to see and share your photos of the park and gardens.

To any interested local organisations involved with wildlife, nature, animal rescue, wildlife photography and the like, If you haven’t yet received an invite from us for the day’s event, don’t hesitate to message on here if you would like to be included.

  2. Yes, we have a fantastic line up for the day. Lots of great people coming along who can help us all be better custodians of our native flora and fauna. Might even be a choir there…you won’t be disappointed. 🙂
